On Second (and 99th!) Thought: Messaging for Climate Action

Potential Energy Coalition, a climate action group that I often admire, recently tested climate action messages and found traction in a simple question: how many second opinions are enough?

Bonus points, in my book, for relatability and common sense. (Find direct links to the video here and analysis here.)

But I’d love to see a version focused solely on the cancer/medical metaphor—I’d guess the traction ramps up even more. Given the stakes (our children’s health!), I can’t think of an arena where a second or third or fourth opinion is not only legitimate but warranted—and where delaying for a 99th opinion is self-evidently unconscionable.

Our children’s lives are on the line, and 99% of scientists already agree: climate change is human-made and real.

Act. Now.
