Zero Day

Zero Day. Mt. Pemigewasset, Franconia Notch, NH.

Today I weathered a Zero Day.

An undiscovered hack, of sorts—not a PC hijack, just mind over matter.

These old pandemic blues: it’s been a long, cold, lonely winter.

I hesitated: coldest day of the winter yet: zero.

Zero degrees.

But I went. It was frigid, painful even, despite our care to keep frostbite at bay. But we reached the summit.

Sometimes the majesty comes only in the wake of grueling slog. Patience, perseverance: and oh, what a glorious view.

For all of that, I am grateful today.
